Citra is a Nintendo 3DS emulator for PC capable of running commercial games at 100% of its speed, as well as incorporating a series of features to improve its visual representation beyond the humble resolution used by Nintendo’s notebook.
The emulator is capable of displaying both screens in real time, although it is also possible to display a single screen in full screen and assign a button to switch between the two. Regarding the control, it is possible to use both the keyboard and to map the control for an external gamepad. As for the touch control of the lower screen, we can directly use the mouse on the point where we want to press.
Citra supports a large number of games in the Nintendo catalog, both 2D and 3D, although it is in the latter where the emulator shines the most by allowing resolution scaling that completely transforms some games into titles that do not seem to be taken from a laptop. Games like Pokémon Sun and Moon or The Legend of Zelda: A Link Betweeen Worlds look impressive.
Citra is possibly the best and most advanced Nintendo 3DS emulator that we can find, an open source project created in an altruistic way that allows us to enjoy our games from the laptop on desktop computers.
The world of emulation does not stop. If a few days ago we talked about the impressive Wii U Cemu emulator, today it is Citra’s turn, a fully functional Nintendo 3DS emulator for Windows and Mac capable of running games at 100% and scaling 3D graphics to display resolutions much higher than the original Nintendo console.
